Colón is the capital of the department with the same name, in Entre Ríos province. The city was founded by the General Justo José de Urquiza, first constitutional president of the country, on April 12th in 1863. Colón had a remarkable tourist destiny since that day, when the founder expressed, in his proclamation, that he located the village “in the most beautiful area enclosed by the coasts of the Uruguay River”.
Because of being a natural port, it favoured the fluvial commerce of regional products, coming principally from Colonia de San José, urban centre formed years before by Urquiza with Swiss – French immigrants.
The natural beauties of Colón captivate tourists since decades ago, transforming the city in the Tourism’s Provincial Capital
With its 21.000 inhabitants, the city conserves the peace of a small town, ideal for the best rest of the tourist.
With mild undulations of the land and completely wooded roads, the entire city constitutes a beautiful natural balcony at the side of the majestic Uruguay River.
In Colón the tourist will find optimal services that cover all the requests, from the large international lodging to the enabled camping sites that have all the hygienic conditions and the essential comforts to install tents, mobile homes, etc.
The nightlife in Colón presents a lot of joy and variety. One of the major alternatives is the casino that works on the eighth floor of Quirinale International Hotel, located on the coast Avenue.
