Norte
The Northern provinces, Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, Tucumán and Santiago del Estero exhibit mix pre-Columbian vestiges, fortress’ and indigenous towns’ ruins and buildings that date from the Conquest and the Colonization.
The time seems to be stopped in the Puna’s high plateau; land ploughed by mountains, ravines and narrow passes. The towns were established at the bottom land. They are surrounded by mountains, sometimes multicoloured, sometimes monochromatic, with slopes covered by big cactuses.
This region allows the meeting with a landscape full of contrasts, from the high peaks up to the plain, with salt mines and subtropical jungles, where the Latin-American culture took root.
